Mission outreach is very important at Grace and is fulfilled in many ways. As a congregation we are involved in many special projects that impact local and global missions. Our Sunday school classes, youth organizations, the United Methodist Women and the United Methodist Men, often provide money and/or services to worthy organizations. These include work at Salkehatchie and Habitat for Humanity as well as several trips to help rebuild areas hit hard by natural disasters. Some of our other groups involved in this ministry are listed below.
Acts of Grace/Food Pantry
Acts of Grace is a nurture-outreach ministry that provides limited aid and spiritual guidance to the community and to church members. The group shows compassion and sensitivity to the needs of others on a confidential basis and tries to reach as many people as possible. A pantry of nonperishable goods, donated by members, is maintained to assist those in need.
180 Place
Grace UMC supports the two facilities of 180 Place -- the homeless men's shelter and the family shelter. 180 Place has provided food, shelter and hope to thousands of hungry and homeless individuals and families. Although our regular visits to the shelters have been temporarily suspended because of construction at the facilities, we are providing support through monetary donations. Please help by writing a check to "Grace UMC" and noting "180 Place" on the memo line. Thank you!
